Manchester United’s hopes of snapping up Arturo Vidal from Juventus have been dealt a major blow, with reports from the Daily Star indicating that Real Madrid are lining up a swap deal involving Sami Khedira.
The Red Devils chased the Chile international for much of the summer, but were unable to lure him to Old Trafford despite claims that a big money contract had been agreed with the player.
And with Louis van Gaal having failed to snap up another orthodox central midfielder, a fresh January move for the 27-year-old has been mooted.
However, it looks as if Real may now nab the South American.
The La Liga giants are reportedly ready to send Khedira to Turin as part of the deal, which could appeal to Juve.
The potential deal would also be a blow for Chelsea and Arsenal, who are both chasing the soon to be out of contract German World Cup winner.
Vidal is widely hailed as the best box-to-box player in European football, but his future in Turin is currently unclear following a nightclub incident which saw him dropped from the first-team and heavily fined.
