Man United defensive target desperate for Old Trafford switch

Galatasaray defender Semih Kaya is keen to join Manchester United despite interest from Atletico Madrid, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Spanish champions are rumoured to be in discussions with the Istanbul side for the Turkish enforcer and are confident of tying up an £8m January deal for his signature.

But the 23-year-old actually wants to join United ahead of the La Liga giants.

Kaya has emerged as one of his home nation’s top talents in recent times, with his commanding displays for Gala having been vital in their recent successes.

Louis van Gaal is thought to be aware of the enforcer, and has had scouts assessing his development. Yet rumours indicate that he’s not their top target, with the likes of Mats Hummels and Angelo Ogbonna other names in the mix.

However Kaya himself is thought to be ready to hold out for the Premier League side for the time being.

The commanding defender has 17 international caps to his name.
