He may have been lauded as a tactical genius upon his arrival at Manchester United after several years of success on the continent, but one can feel sympathy for Red Devils fans who are starting to lose patience with Louis van Gaal.

Although skipper Wayne Rooney has a superb record of 10 goals in 9 games against West Ham United, the Dutchman decided to start Robin van Persie and Radamel Ralcao up front against the Hammers in their Premier League clash on Sunday, with Rooney dropping into midfield.

Suffice to say van Persie and Falcao were not at the best of a dreary first half which ended goalless, and United fans from around their globe made sure their dissatisfaction with the pair's performance was known.

With neither striker impressing much for the Old Trafford side this season, the pressure is on for them to form a deadly partnership and start banging the goals in. Otherwise, the decision to play Rooney out of position seems dafter and dafter by the day.
