Man United eager to pounce on unhappy World Cup winning defender

Manchester United are ready to pounce on Mats Hummels’ reported discontent at Borussia Dortmund, according to the Daily Star.

The World Cup winner was thought to be a major target over the summer, though opted to remain at Signal Iduna Park under new boss Thomas Tuchel.

However, since then, the relationship between player and coach has deteriorated as the 26-year has fallen out with his new manager.

As a result, his form has dropped, leading to criticism in the German press.

The pair are understood to have disagreed on a number of issues, and the 26-year old is reportedly primed to shock the club by handing in a transfer request.

Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is said to have been keen on securing the defender for a while now, and the Old Trafford outfit could be ready to offer him a way out.

Hummels’ current deal expires in 2017 with the Bundesliga giants, who could be eager to cash in on him while they still can.
