Man United eye £20m Barca raid

New Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal is considering a move for Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez, according to the Guardian.

The Dutchman is a long-term admirer of the Chile international and sees him as a player who would fit perfectly in to his preferred 4-3-3 formation.

The 25-year-old is rated at £20m by Barcelona but Van Gaal is thought to be prepared to meet that valuation as he looks to rebuild a side that suffered its worst Premier League campaign ever last term.

It has been reported that Van Gaal has been handed a £200m war chest this summer but he has so far been left frustrated by a number of targets either signing for European rivals are agreeing new contracts to remain at their clubs.

But a move for Sanchez would only depend on whether United can offload at least of their attacking players, with Nani, Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia and Danny Welbeck all reported to be lined up for the chop at Old Trafford this summer.
