Man United eyeing ex-Spurs ace in De Gea swap (Not Bale)

Manchester United are looking into a the possibility of taking Luka Modric in an exchange deal for David de Gea this summer, according to reports from Metro.

The Red Devils’ star stopper – who was voted the club’s best performer of 2014/15 – looks set to leave Old Trafford for Real Madrid in the coming months, despite Louis van Gaal’s desire to keep him.

Swap deals involving the likes of Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos have been mooted, but now reports claim that United are looking at Modric as a possible option.

LVG is thought to see the former Tottenham playmaker as a good option for his side and is keen to lure him back to the Premier League, where he shone at White Hart Lane.

It’s likely that Real would demand cash plus De Gea for the Croatia international, with the ‘keeper valued at as little as £13m by the Spaniards.

Modric endured a tough start to life in Madrid, but the 29-year-old has won over Los Blancos fans with his metronomic passing and energy in midfield.
