Manchester United are set for a summer transfer tussle with Lazio after the Italian giants suggested they will reject any offer for their highly-rated Dutch defender Stefan De Vrij, according to talkSPORT.
The 23-year-old is reportedly one of Louis van Gaal’s top transfer targets as he looks to build a title winning side at Old Trafford, but Lazio owner Claudio Lotto is not prepared to sell.
In Lazio’s recent Coppa Italia game Manchester United sent scouts specifically to watch the former Feyenoord man, and he seems high on their wish list.
De Vrij has played under Van Gaal for the national side, most notably at last year’s World Cup, where he scored against Spain and ended up in the team of the tournament.
The Lazio defender has only been in Italy for one season following his move from his native Netherlands, and the club will be desperate to hold onto one of their star assets.
