Manchester United are interested in signing West Ham defender Issa Diop this summer, according to Sky Sports.
The outlet reckon that the Old Trafford club are ready to pay £45m plus a player to land the talented 22-year-old as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to make improvements to his defensive line next term.
The Hammers are said to be uninterested in selling the player and wouldn’t even entertain bids of less than £60m.
Could United be in the hunt for an £85m blockbuster signing this summer? Check out the video below…
Diop arrived in London last summer after making the switch from Ligue 1 side Toulouse and went on to make 38 appearances in all competitions, winning plaudits for his aggressive, no nonsense style.
He may not have vast experience but Solskjaer appears to be hoping to build a team he can train and that can grow together at Old Trafford rather than rely on supposed superstars who are unmotivated to produce the goods for United.
Plenty of fans certainly seem keen on his arrival, with these supporters taking to Twitter over the weekend to share their thoughts on the potential deal…
Honestly I'd take Issa Diop at United all day long. Much better than Rojo, Jones and Smalling. Only 21, only gonna get better. Been West Ham's stand out player this season imo, it's just the focus has all been on Felipe Anderson. #MUFC

Give them Ashly young and I’ll take him ! I feel like this so not man United ! This is actually smart business to buy a player and get rid of a player you don’t want ! Ed Woodward has been hit on the head!

The Issa Diop signing would be a good one. Great talent and probably would also help us get rid of one of the deadwood. But 45+player? That seems too high.. however, if he has a good season, that price is only going to go up! #mufc
