Manchester United were dumped out of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night after losing 2-1 to Sevilla at Old Trafford.
Heading into the match much fancied to knock out their Spanish opposition after a 0-0 result away from home, the Red Devils were bitterly disappointing in front of their own supporters.
With the Premier League title beyond them, their only hope for major silverware this season is now the FA Cup, which is likely well below the ambitions of most fans or even Jose Mourinho himself.
While the manager didn’t escape criticism, much of it went to the players too and fans were desperately disappointed with the performance of the midfield, in particular Marouane Fellaini.
The Belgian hadn’t started a game since November, but Mourinho took the decision to play him anyway, baffling many. He was lacklustre all evening and supporters are now calling for him to be dropped again.
They took to Twitter to share their thoughts…

I haven’t questioned Mourinho’s position but he’ll be testing my faith if he doesn’t start Pogba and Mata on Saturday. If Fellaini starts, it will look like the beginning of the end #mufc

Jose's obsession with Fellaini proved toxic last night. Jose has improved us a lot since his arrival but some of his decisions in big games have been baffling and then his post match comments last night were simply disrespectful. It's all very confusing and disappointing.#MUFC

Jose obsession with Fellaini is just baffling. He cannot prioritise a player more than a club. Mctominay was brilliant in the games leading to this one and he gets dropped. Pogba again went missing. I still want Jose to continue but his tactics are really questionable #mufc
