Man United fans frustrated Axel Tuanzebe wasn’t handed Derby chance

Manchester United progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup as late goals from Jesse Lingard and Romelu Lukaku gave them a 2-0 win against Derby County at Old Trafford on Friday night, but Red Devils fans were frustrated to see youngster Axel Tuanzebe miss out on a place in the 18.

Considering Jose Mourinho’s men were coming up against Championship opposition at home, it certainly wouldn’t have been unexpected to see the 20-year-old and Scott McTominay named in the starting line-up, but the former was omitted completely while the latter had to settle for a place on the substitutes’ bench.

Despite playing against Swansea in the EFL Cup earlier in the campaign and as a late substitute against Everton in the Premier League on New Year’s Day, Tuanzebe wasn’t given another opportunity against the Rams and rumours will now start that he could leave the club on loan this month.

Man United supporters were quick to have their say on the absence of the starlet via social media, and while one said “very disappointing that Tuanzebe didn’t play tonight”, another said he “needs to start these games”.
