Man United fans fume over Juan Mata call in loss to Palace

Premiership Picks

Crystal Palace beat Manchester United for the first time in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon courtesy of a 2-1 success at Old Trafford.

Patrick van Aanholt came up with a stoppage-time winner for the Eagles, who had seen Daniel James cancel out a strike from Jordan Ayew in the latter stages.

United were largely set up to play on the counter once again, but Roy Hodgson’s side did not allow the Red Devils space on the break.

As a result, it might well have been a match for Juan Mata to start as the Spaniard is arguably the club’s most technically gifted player in tight positions.

As it turned out, Mata was only introduced in the 85th minute of the contest – leaving the experienced attacker with little time to make an impact.

And it would be fair to say that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s decision to wait until the final five minutes to introduce the 31-year-old did not go down well with the supporters one bit.
