Man United fans give verdict as Mourinho says season will not be defined by cup final

To a large degree, the assessment of whether Manchester United’s season has been a success will be made on whether or not they win the FA Cup in the Wembley showpiece final against Chelsea.

There is quite a substantial difference between Champions League qualification and being the second best team in the country with a major trophy to show for it, especially at a club where trophies are a currency and under a manager, in Jose Mourinho, for whom medals take precedence over style.

However, the former Chelsea boss says that he will not judge the overall success of the season based purely on the result at Wembley, preferring to take a broader view on the campaign.
