The midfielder has extended his contract until 2023, with the option for a further year, after making his breakthrough under Jose Mourinho last season.
McTominay was named Mourinho’s Player of the Season in the 2017/18 campaign despite only making 13 appearances for the club.
He has struggled for starts this season, however, playing 90 minutes on just two occasions in the Premier League – in the 3-1 defeat to West Ham and the 2-2 draw with Southampton.
He has been included in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad just once since his appointment as United caretaker manager, and he played a single minute in the recent 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium.
Nevertheless, the academy graduate, who has been at the club since the age of five, has now extended his stay.
Fans, though, are split on the news. Some claim he does not have what it takes to cut it at United, while others believe he deserves a shot in the first-team as he looks to prove himself.
McTominay new contract.. Great prospect and future captain of deadwood FC. Fed up of seeing these average players given contracts when we should be really trying to make room in the squad for better quality

I'm not hating on Mctominay but he is an average player and the only reason is he in this man utd squad, is due to the fact he is a academy player he is championship level if we being honest

Not everyone was pleased with Mourinho’s sacking. Check out American Soccer Fan’s hilarious take on it in the video below…
I hope he proves me wrong about this but Scott Mctominay is nowhere near United level. Not exactly the best career move from his perspective either. Year older than Rashford & not even close to playing. Might see a loan move.

Awful decision. Club’s in shambles.

I’m happy for him, he deserves a chance to prove himself.

Ole hasn’t put a foot wrong so far, if he thinks this is a good idea for the team then we have to trust his judgement. Even if most of us disagree.
