Man United fans pay tribute to £31.5m-rated attacker

Manchester United revealed on Friday that Anthony Martial had picked up the club’s official Player of the Month award for the second successive month.

The Frenchman picked up 49% of the votes to land the October award, with David de Gea coming in second and Chris Smalling taking third position.

Martial, who is value at £31.5m by, might not be able to hold down a regular starting role under Jose Mourinho, but there is no question that the 21-year-old is a popular figure with the United fans.

He scored the winning goal against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League last weekend, and also starred in Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over Benfica in the Champions League, despite missing an early penalty in the Group A clash.

Martial has also received a call-up to the latest France squad after being rewarded for scoring seven times in all competitions during the early stages of the 2017-18 campaign.

Martial might well be back on the bench for United’s trip to Chelsea this weekend, but if it were up to the club’s supporters, he would be one of the first names on the teamsheet.
