Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick took to his official Twitter account on Friday to explain why he has been absent over the course of the last couple of months, and Red Devils fans were quick to react to his statement.

The 36-year-old hasn't been involved since the win against Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup in September, and the United captain explained that he had an irregular heart rhythm during the second-half of the clash against the Brewers after feeling unwell.

The former England international confirmed he has since had a Cardiac Ablation to sort out the issue, and he says he is hoping to be involved with the first-team again soon.

Man United supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on Carrick's comments, and while one said "miss you on the pitch", another simply said "need you back ASAP".

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction...
