Man United fans react positively to Lingard tweet

Social media is a difficult place for footballers when things are not going well.

Manchester United managed to improve in the Premier League as they secured a runners-up spot at the end of the 2017-18 campaign, but the Red Devils suffered a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup final at the weekend.

It would be fair to say that the United fans have been unhappy with their manager Jose Mourinho in recent weeks, and that was also the case following the FA Cup final, which was decided by an Eden Hazard penalty.

Jesse Lingard, who is said to be on £100,000 a week at United, was one of the players who underperformed against Chelsea, but the England international has somewhat surprisingly not been criticised by the club’s supporters.

On the contrary in fact, with the bulk of United fans throwing their support behind Lingard and indeed the team in response to a tweet from the attacker.

United have certainly made steps in the right direction since Mourinho arrived, and the club’s supporters are looking to the 2018-19 campaign with optimism despite the disappointment of the FA Cup final.
