Manchester United fans reacted to Lyon's shock win over Manchester City in the Champions League at the Etihad on Wednesday, mainly due to a brilliant performance by former player Memphis Depay.

Lyon surprised the English champions with a 2-1 win, handing the Citizens their fourth straight defeat in the competition. The Dutch international linked up brilliantly with Nabil Fekir, setting up the Frenchman for Lyon's second goal of the night before almost getting on the scoresheet himself in the second half but his shot deflected back off the post.

The 24-year-old, who left United in 2017,  had a dig at City before the match by saying in a press conference that 'Manchester is still red' upon the team's arrival and took to Instagram after the win on Wednesday evening to make the statement again.

United fans absolutely loved Depay's antics with some even suggesting they would like to see him back at Old Trafford and that he wasn't taken serious enough in his short time at the club. Depay joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2015 but failed to properly get going under managers Louis van Gaal and José Mourinho.
