Things took a turn for the worse in Manchester United’s 4-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea yesterday when Ivorian defender Eric Bailly was taken off injured, with Jose Mourinho later stating he’s worried about the problem sustained by the centre-back.
The summer signing from Villarreal has been a bright spark in a largely flaccid Manchester United side this season and his absence is sure to be felt for the next month or so, with the African ace sitting on the sidelines for a crucial stage of the Red Devils’ season.
An injury to a key-player is never taken lightly by supporters but Bailly’s problem has rocked the Manchester United fanbase to their core, with many stating this will derail their season and end their campaign before the clocks even go back.
Whilst that may be a little extreme, United’s defence has been shaky enough as it is this season and without Bailly, they could be exploited further by their opponents – which is a major concern as United have already conceded a six-point advantage to their title rivals.
4-0 loss to Chelsea, 7th in the table, Bailly is injured, our season is over before the clocks have gone back
