Jesse Lingard gets a tough time from a number of Manchester United supporters.
The 24-year-old is not an elite footballer – he never will be – but there is certainly a place for the England international at Old Trafford.
A return of three goals and three assists in 15 appearances this season is far from horrific, whilst he has made a positive contribution off the bench in recent weeks.
It is unlikely that the attacker will be in the starting XI for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Chelsea, however, as United boss Jose Mourinho prepares to select Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the number 10 position.
After United’s official Twitter account posted a video of Lingard, who is valued at £10.8m by transfermarkt.co.uk, scoring a brilliant goal at Stamford Bridge, there was a mixed reaction from the club’s supporters.
Many wanted to make their negative views on Lingard known, but there were also those keen to pay tribute to a player that never gives less than 100% on the field.
