Man United fans tell club to sign Gelson Martins after huge development

Four Sporting Lisbon players – including speedy winger Gelson Martins – have rescinded their contracts with the Portuguese outfit, as reported by The Telegraph on Tuesday morning, and Manchester United fans have urged their club to sign the attacker, rated at £27m by Transfermarkt.

The Telegraph report that the Portugal international, along with teammates William Carvalho, Bruno Fernandes and Bas Dost, have all filed notice that they are breaking their contracts, claiming “just cause” after some of the players were attacked by supporters at the training ground after they missed out on Champions League qualifitcation.

Meanwhile, Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho, who should sign a 6ft 3in England international whose future appears uncertain, may well be looking to add a right winger to his attack this summer with the likes of Juan Mata struggling to make an impression there last term, and his national compatriot should be of interest – especially if he is potentially available for nothing.

Man United supporters were quick to have their say on Martins via social media, and while one said “we need to get him before Arsenal or Chelsea do”, another said “he should 100% be brought in to be understudy to Bale/Griezmann at RW”.
