Man United fans urge club to sign Seamus Coleman from Everton this summer

Everton right-back Seamus Coleman impressed for his side in their 1-0 win against Newcastle United at Goodison Park on Monday night, and Manchester United fans have urged Jose Mourinho to bring the 29-year-old to Old Trafford this summer.

The Republic of Ireland international is getting back to his best after a double leg break kept him on the sidelines for the best part of 12 months, and he impressed at both ends of the pitch against the Magpies – including making a brilliant headed clearance in stoppage time.

The Red Devils’ first-choice in that position is currently Antonio Valencia, but the Old Trafford faithful obviously feel that their manager needs to start looking to the future, with the Ecuadorian player not quite making the same positive impact he once did.

Man United supporters, who blasted Valencia for his shortcomings on Twitter last week, were quick to have their say on Coleman’s latest performance via social media, and while one said he “would be a major upgrade on Valencia”, another suggested the club could “swap him and Shaw”.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
