West Ham United striker Javier Hernandez impressed for Mexico in their brilliant 1-0 win against the holders Germany in their opening 2018 World Cup group match on Sunday, and Manchester United fans have urged their club to bring the 30-year-old, rated at £13.5m by Transfermarkt, back to the club.

The Irons attacker was a popular figure among the Old Trafford faithful during his spell with them, and with Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho potentially looking for a back-up option for Romelu Lukaku this summer it seems those supporters know who they would want.

Despite a tough debut campaign with the east London club in which he often found himself behind Marko Arnautovic in the pecking order, Hernandez started against Germany and ran his socks off, also producing the assist for Hirving Lozano's winner.

Man United fans, who would also love to sign another £16.2m-rated 2018 World Cup star following his nation's first fixture, would were quick to have their say on his latest display via social media, and while one said "bring him back Jose", another said "United need to re-sign Hernandez".

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
