Man United fear they’re ‘being used’ as transfer plans scrapped

Manchester United have no interest in signing Nicolas Oramendi this summer and fear that they are being used to drum up interest in the Valencia defender, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with the Argentine centre-back in recent times, with rumours having suggested that his agent has been discussing terms with the Premier League giants.

However, reports now claim that the club are not pursuing the 27-year-old, despite the clear need for a commanding enforcer at Old Trafford.

Further to this, United are fearful that they’re being used to raise the profile of the player and attract significant bids for his signature.

Valencia themselves have held firm on their stance that only a release clause-triggering offer will be enough, suggesting that the player’s representatives are the driving force behind speculation.

Such developments have thrown United’s defensive reinforcement plans into doubt, with reports also suggesting that a deal for Sergio Ramos is dead.
