Man United fend off city rivals as Chelsea signing edges closer

Manchester United are edging ever closer to the signing of Chelsea starlet Charly Musonda in January, according to the Metro.

The gifted 19-year old has been touted as a potential world beater one day but has been unable to break the first-team amid the struggles surrounding the Blues.

Louis van Gaal is thought to be keen on landing the Belgium under-21 international in an effort to ignite his Manchester United team, who are under fire for their perceived lack of energy and drive.

Musonda is believed to want to guarantee his chance in the first-team, with the Red Devils understood to be willing to offer him that should he seek a move away from London next month.

Manchester City are also said to be exploring the prospected of taking the talented teen, but the Old Trafford outfit remain favourites to secure his services as they look to fend off the interest of their city rivals.
