Manchester United look to have been dealt a transfer blow amid speculation that Grzegorz Krychowiak is set to remain at Sevilla, Estadio Deportivo reports.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford as they begin their efforts to reinforce the squad under the new management of Jose Mourinho.
However, the defensive midfielder is believed to be keen on remaining with the La Liga outfit and will not be pushing for an exit.
It is said that United were planning to table an offer for the Poland international this summer, but may now need to look elsewhere for another signing.
Krychowiak signed a contract extension back in November, ensuring his stay until at least 2019, with Sevilla also adding a £34million release-clause into his deal.
He made 42 appearances in all competitions for his side this past term, scoring a total of one goal while providing another five assists in the process.
