Man United have agreement in place with one of world’s best youngsters

Manchester United have a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ in place to sign Benfica’s teenage sensation Renato Sanches this summer, according to reports from Record.

The 18-year-old was heavily linked with the Red Devils over the winter after enjoying a fantastic breakthrough in Lisbon.

Sanches’ promise has already seen him named in Marca’s ‘World U-18 XI’, and reports claim that United are on the verge of luring him to Old Trafford with an arrangement in place.

It’s understood that the Manchester giants have reached a tentative agreement to sign the youngster at the end of the season, although no fee has been formally settled with Benfica.

The Primeira Liga giants want a figure above that of their current record sale – Axel Witsel’s £31m move to Zenit St Petersburg in 2012 – and Sanches himself is ready to make the switch.

Cristiano Ronaldo moved from Portugal to the Theatre of Dreams as a youngster and has gone on to enjoy a stunning career, which may be a source of inspiration for the starlet.
