Man United have tabled £33.6m offer for Real Madrid ace, club desperate to sell

Manchester United have tabled an opening offer of €40m (£33.6m) for Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez according to Don Balon, but although the Spaniards are keen to sell, they want a higher fee.

The Colombian playmaker joined Los Blancos in the summer of 2014 on the back of a stunning World Cup for a fee of around €80m (close to £60m at the time).

He starred in his debut campaign at the Bernabeu, but his game time was limited in 2015/16, and it’s understood that he’s slipped so far down new manager Zinedine Zidane’s pecking order that he’s below youngster Lucas Vazquez and Isco.

This has reportedly alerted Man United, who have put forward an opening offer of £33.6m for the player, however this falls some way short of the La Liga giants’ valuation.

Although Zidane wants rid of the player – potentially to fund a move for Paul Pogba – Real’s president, Florentino Perez, is reluctant to take a huge financial hit on the 25-year-old.
