Manchester United are negotiating a deal with Benfica to sign Andre Carrillo during the upcoming summer window, Diario de Noticias reports.
The 24-year-old is currently playing for Sporting Lisbon, but will complete a free transfer to Benfica when his contract expires at the end of this month.
However, the Portuguese club are considering a possible move to cash in on his services upon his arrival, with United keen to reinforce their ranks.
Having penned a pre-contract earlier in the campaign, the winger was eventually dropped from the first-team and has not featured for his side since September.
The Red Devils are expected to undergo yet another overhaul despite the fact that recently sacked manager Louis van Gaal spent about £250million to build his squad.
Carrillo featured 46 times in all competitions during the 2014/15 campaign, scoring seven goals while providing another 18 assists.
Man United have been heavily linked with Benfica’s Nicolas Gaitan over the course of the past few transfer windows.
