Man United join Serie A giants in £16.2m transfer battle for exciting Ligue 1 playmaker

According to reports from TuttoSport, Manchester United have joined Juventus in the race to sign Monaco starlet Bernardo Silva during the summer transfer window.

The promising playmaker featured prominently for a Portugal side that reached the final of last summer’s U21 European Championship and has been in good form for Monaco this term, notching up five goals and one assist in 27 Ligue 1 appearances.

That has seen Silva become a regular for his country at senior level, amassing five caps since his March 2015 debut, and emerge as a potential transfer target for some of Europe’s biggest clubs – most particularly Juventus and Manchester United.

Indeed, TuttoSport claim the Red Devils have joined the Serie A champions in the race to sign the attacking midfielder this summer, with Monaco reportedly valuing him at £16.2million.

The 21-year-old’s contract with Monaco, who are currently second in Ligue 1 table, is due to expire at the end of the 2019/20 campaign.
