Manchester United have bid a club record £47.5m bid for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, according to the Daily Star.
New Old Trafford chief Louis Van Gaal has made no secret of his desire to bring the Chilean to the club this summer.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to United all summer and has admitted he is unsure where his future lies, with Juventus stalling on a new contract offer.
Vidal’s agent is holding crunch talks with the Serie A club this week and is expected to demand they either match United’s £100,000-a-week offer or allow him to leave for the for the thirteen-time Premier League champions.
The Reds are willing to double Vidal’s current £50,00o-a-week wages, as well as offer him the security of a four-year deal.
United’s current club record transfer stands at £37.1m when David Moyes brought Chelsea’ Juan Mata to the club.
