Man United legend thrilled to see Leicester ace smash his record

Jamie Vardy has only gone and done it… The 28-year-old slotted home his 11th goal in as many games against Manchester United this evening to break the record (10 in 10) set by, interestingly, Red Devils icon Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Dutchman is widely considered to be one of the very best goalscorers to have played in the Premier League, and his record was very much seen as a proof of his skills and a part of his legacy. So he’d be sad to see it go, right?

Not entirely it would seem. Ol’ Ruud was quickly on Instagram to congratulate Vardy on his heroics:

Well done @vardy7! You’re number one now and you deserved it. #11inarow.

A classy touch, but would you expect anything less from one of the silkiest players in English football’s history? Good on you, Van Nistelrooy!

Amazingly Vardy’s goal was also the first to breach Man United’s backline in 14 hours of league football!
