Manchester United are plotting a move for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Ander ter Stegen amid fears that David de Gea may complete a long-awaited move to Real Madrid later this year, according to reports from CalcioMercatoWeb.
The Germany international joined the Catalan club in the summer of 2014, but has been forced to play a back-up role to fellow arrival Claudio Bravo, which has led to suggestions that he’s eager to move on of late.
Liverpool have since been linked with a move for the 23-year-old – albeit Jurgen Klopp scrapped these suggestions today – but reports claim that Ter Stegen may get a Premier League switch with United also keen.
The Red Devils are acutely aware they may lose De Gea to Real this coming summer after a long transfer saga last time around, which concluded in a move being scuppered due to a mix-up with submitting the required paperwork.
Los Blancos are once again keen on the Spaniard, who himself could be open to a transfer after agreeing terms with the La Liga side last year.
Ter Stegen would be an able replacement, albeit United already possess experienced options such as Victor Valdes and Sergio Romero.
