Jose Mourinho is planning to travel to Italy this weekend to watch Inter Milan pair Mauro Icardi and Joao Miranda in action as he draws up transfer plans ahead of a potential summer move to Manchester United, according to reports from La Stampa.
The Portuguese boss has been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea in December, but he’s been widely tipped to replace under-fire Red Devils chief Louis van Gaal – speculation that’s likely to increase following the club’s Europa League loss at FC Midtjylland.
It’s already been suggested that Mourinho could be in place at United before the end of February, but a summer move appears to be a more logical option, and reports claim that ‘The Special One’ is looking at targets, including Icardi and Miranda.
The ex-Inter tactician is understood to have planned a weekend trip to Italy to watch the South American pair in action, with the former a striker who could ease United’s goalscoring woes and the latter a central defensive leader.
There are no guarantees that Mourinho will be named as Van Gaal’s possible replacement, but ‘Mou’ has a long shopping list ahead of a deal with Radja Nainggolan of Roma wanted, too.
