Manchester United are eager to seal a £60m move for Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and are keen to pursue a deal regardless of Louis van Gaal’s future at Old Trafford, according to reports from the Independent.
The Red Devils’ Dutch tactician is heading into a make-or-break period, with a poor result away at League One strugglers Shrewsbury on the back of losses to Sunderland and FC Midtjylland likely to call his already shaky position into greater question.
But, regardless of LVG’s fate, the Manchester heavyweights are already looking to press on with transfer plans ahead of the looming off-season, with reports claiming Aubameyang is a serious target.
The 26-year-old has notched 31 goals in 34 appearances this term, helping him to scoop the African Footballer of the Year award for 2015.
Meanwhile United have failed to net in 10 of their 39 games this season and are the lowest scorers in the Premier League’s top eight with just 33 efforts to their name.
The Gabon international is valued at around £60m and is currently considered to be one of the most dangerous strikers on the planet.
