Man United lose out to Euro rivals in race for transfer-bound El Clasico star

According to reports from Sport, Barcelona star Dani Alves has rejected a contract offer from Manchester United.

The Brazil international has claimed three Champions League titles since signing for the Catalans in summer 2008, alongside six La Liga honours and four Copa del Reys, but his Nou Camp tenure appears to be coming to an end.

Indeed, the right-back’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season and according to Sport, he’s now set to join Serie A champions Juventus on a free transfer.

However, the Spanish publication further allege that Manchester United also made a contract offer for the 33-year-old – only to see it snubbed in favour of the Old Lady’s bid.

The Red Devils do face a bit of a dilemma at right-back; Matteo Darmian hasn’t hit the heights expected since signing from Torino in summer 2015, whilst converted winger Antonio Valencia isn’t a natural defender.
