Man United make offer for Spanish star

Manchester United have offered experienced Spanish goalkeeper Victor Valdes a contract, according to reports from Mundo Deportivo.

The 32-year-old has been without a club since seeing out his contract with Barcelona over the summer, but has been unable to find himself a new side in the meantime due to an ACL injury.

Liverpool were linked with a deal for the former La Roja international during the Autumn months, but since a proposed switch collapsed the goalie has been training with United – linking up with his former coach at Barca, Louis van Gaal.

And now that he’s proven his fitness amid fears that he would not fully recover from his knee issues, the Red Devils are ready to give him a route back into top-level football.

Reports suggest that United are ready to offload stoppers Anders Lindegaard and Ben Amos, with Valdes the ideal man to come in as David de Gea’s back-up.

The player himself is pondering the proposal, with a decision expected soon.

United are understood to have put the glovesman through stringent medical tests to ensure that he warrants a deal.

Vades was expected to join Monaco on a free transfer earlier this year, but the deal collapsed due to his fitness.
