Man United make shock deadline day move for Championship youngster

Manchester United have added another defender to their ranks by completing a deal to sign Andy Kellett from Bolton, Goal.com reports.

The 21-year-old has joined on a season long loan and despite Louis van Gaal aiming to sign a world class centre-back, his new addition is actually a left-back with little experience in the top tier.

Although usually played as part of a back four, Kellet has also been enjoying a success spell as a left winger while on loan at Plymouth Argyle from Salford City.

He has never played in the Premier League, but has featured in 12 consecutive matches for his side before being snapped up by the Red Devils.

United were linked with deadline day signings for Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels and Paris Saint-Germain’s Marquinhos, but saw both moves break down.

The club have also allowed Saidy Janko to move on-loan in the opposite direction, an agreement which allowed the switch for Kellet.
