Man United monitoring Celtic sensation as part of big plans

Manchester United are monitoring Celtic’s 15-year-old defender Daniel Church, according to reports from ESPN.

The teenage centre-back has risen to prominence in the Bhoys’ youth ranks, playing a key role in the U-17s’ recent Glasgow Cup Final win over bitter rivals Rangers.

And reports claim that Man United, who were initially monitoring Celtic’s 16-year-old forward Jack Aitchison, have been alerted by the defender’s potential.

It’s understood that the Manchester giants are looking to improve their academy set-up, even though players such as Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Marcus Rashford have emerged this season.

Church is still some way from being a first-team player at Celtic, but has represented Scotland at schoolboy level.

Last month United signed 15-year-old defender Lee O’Connor from Waterford, Swiss striker Nishan Burkhart, 16, from FC Zurich and Dutch talent Tahith Chong, 16, from Feyenoord.

The aforementioned Aitchison signed a new contract with the Hoops recently, and is on the fringes of Ronny Deila’s senior squad.
