Man United must really be regretting £140m failed summer move now

Remember the summer transfer window? As the nights draw in the memory of the July to August bliss of sunshine and beer gardens fades, and so do the transfer dealings of the period. There were many moves that grabbed headlines, but had Manchester United pulled off a reported £140m swoop for Barcelona’s Neymar, they would have stolen all of the attention, and may well be clear at the top of the table.

The Brazilian has been in breath-taking form this season and today took his goal tally to 11 in his last seven matches – while also supplying five assists. Enough to make even Jamie Vardy blush!

Further to this Neymar is widely considered to be one of the most skilful players on the planet, and with him up top Louis van Gaal wouldn’t be deflecting negative comments from Paul Scholes et al on a weekly basis.
