It’s been a difficult week for Manchester United fans, who were frustrated enough having drawn 0-0 with Liverpool and putting in a defensive orientated performance, but things took another poor turn yesterday after Chelsea inflicted a heavy defeat upon them.
Summer signings Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic failed to impress, with the midfielder creating nothing in the number 10 role, and post-match statistics suggest the Frenchman should have conceded his position in the side to another player within the squad.

Juan Mata is clearly an important player for Manchester United this season, with the Red Devils winning four of five games when the Spaniard has started, while they’ve picked up just one point from the four games when the former Chelsea man has found himself out of the starting line-up.
The Spaniard has always been underused by Jose Mourinho, who sold the playmaker to United whilst in charge of Chelsea, but the figures show that Mourinho cannot continue to overlook the creative ace anymore – as it’s clear United are a far worse side with him on the sidelines.
With a crucial run of fixtures coming up against Manchester City, Burnley, Fenerbache, Swansea and Arsenal in all competitions, the next month could decide the course of the Red Devils’ season and, if they are to rise up the table, restoring Mata to the starting line-up would be a good move.
