Andreas Pereira is one of the most promising youngsters in Manchester United’s current squad – he was voted the club’s U21 Player of the Year last season.
However, at the age of 20 he has already been linked with moves away from Manchester United, but should the Red Devils be doing all they can to keep hold of their most promising youngsters?
Pereira has made a handful of appearances for the senior team, coming on for Saidy Janko in the 4-0 defeat to MK Dons in August 2014, a match that had few positives for United fans. Then in March, Pereira replaced Mata against Tottenham, with his chances limited.
However, the lack of opportunities didn’t put him off, and on the 1st May he signed a new three-year contract.

He had a very busy 2015, being part of the Brazil U21 World Cup squad, which went to the final against Serbia. Though Pereira scored in the game, Brazil lost in extra-time.
Yet it highlighted just how far this youngster has come, and it laid the path for Pereira to start establishing himself amongst the Manchester United senior team, and during their pre-season tour of the United States, he played a part in every single game.
When you consider the other high profile talents that have left the club and been successes, it begs the question whether Pereira should stay at United and fight for his place, or leave and become a success elsewhere.
Players like Paul Pogba, Ravel Morrison, Ryan Shawcross are only a few of those who did not make the cut at Old Trafford, or left to pursue first team football.
Take Pogba, for instance: he got frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities, and rather than wait for them to come along, he moved to Juventus. At Juve he gradually pushed himself into the first team, and soon became an established first team regular, one of the first names of the sheet. He has become an icon, and not just for his ever changing hairstyles.
Pogba is never far from the headlines when Juventus play well, and is often orchestrating their success from midfield. After consistently performing, Pogba is now being tipped for big moves to the big clubs, with Madrid, Barcelona, Munich, Manchester United and City and Chelsea all supposedly interested in his signature.
For a man who many thought was silly to leave Manchester United, he has proved his critics wrong and become one of France’s brightest talents.
Whether Pereira should move or not is ultimately a choice only he can decide. However, when you look at United’s squad at the moment, he is a unique player and if he waits a few years, will easily be in that first team.
He is already a fan favourite at Old Trafford, and you can only hope that his career can be similar to that of Pogba’s – just within Man United instead.
