Angel di Maria has revealed that when he leaves Manchester United he wants to make an emotional return to boyhood club Rosario Central.
The Argentina international joined the Red Devils in a club record deal worth almost £60m from Real Madrid last year and has been a hit at Old Trafford, even though he’s had some injury set-backs.
Despite his status as a United newbie, there have already been links with a stunning move to join French champions Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season, but in an interview with FIFATV, Di Maria revealed that his heart is set on a return to Rosario Central in the future:
“I think the next step would be to go back to Rosario Central, another giant!” he said.
“Let me explain: it’s true, I have played for big European clubs already. I’ve played two World Cups, I’ve won the Champions League.
“I started at Benfica, not as big but one of the biggest clubs in Portugal. I’ve played for Real Madrid. Then I moved to Manchester United, from a giant to another giant.
“I think after this, it’ll be time to go back home. I hope so.”
Di Maria left Rosario Central in 2007 as a 19-year-old to join Benfica.
He joined this club as a youngster from regional side Torito and has since gone on to play for Real Madrid and United.
