Man United now keen on Real Madrid target to cover for crocked star

Manchester United are scouting Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodriguez as a potential replacement for Luke Shaw, according to the Metro.

The Swiss full-back has been impressing for the German outfit over a number of years now, earning him links with a plethora of top level clubs throughout Europe.

Red Devils chief Louis van Gaal is understood to have touted the 23-year old the ideal candidate to plug the gap at left-back, following Shaw’s injury.

The £27m youngster suffered a double fracture in his leg during a Champions League match with PSV in September, and is not expected to feature again this season.

Reports suggest that Rodriguez, capped 33 times at international level, could be the man the Dutchman looks to draft in ahead of the January transfer window.

He has previously been linked with the likes of Real Madrid, after establishing himself as one of the most consistent defenders in the Bundesliga.
