Man United officials in Madrid to thrash out impressive midfielder deal

Manchester United have sent representatives to Spain in a bid to seal a deal for Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez, according to reports from Cope.

Although they remain outsiders in the race for the Premier League title, Louis van Gaal’s side have been roundly criticized for their perceived brand of dull football, which has even seen the manager’s position called into question in recent weeks.

But, with January transfer window wide open, reports claim that the club are looking to address their issues with a move for Saul – a Spain U-21 international.

It’s understood that a team of delegates from Manchester are in Madrid to negotiate a deal for the 21-year-old, with a £15m fee being mooted.

Atletico have signed Argentine midfield pair Augusto Fernandez and Matias Kranevitter this month, fuelling speculation that they could sell with Diego Simeone well-stocked in the centre of the pitch.
