Man United plan defensive shake up with January deals

Manchester United are set to freshen up their defensive options when the transfer window bursts wide open again in the New Year, according to the Metro.

The Red Devils are set to sanction the sale of Argentine ace Marcos Rojo and bring FC Porto bruiser Bruno Martins Indi in as a replacement.

Rojo only arrived at the club last year, amid problems surrounding third party ownership, but has fallen out of favour with boss Louis van Gaal.

The 25-year old failed to show up to the club’s preseason tour of the United States on time, citing problems with his passport – and did not correctly disclose the extent of an injury that saw him limp out of the recent win over Southampton.

Linked with a move to Zenit St. Petersburg, the former Sporting Lisbon could make a January departure.

As a result, van Gaal has targeted Martins Indi as a replacement, after working the defender during last year’s World Cup, where the pair helped the Netherlands finish in third position.
