Man United plotting move for top-class star, despite breakdown with club

Manchester United are plotting a move for Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane, despite their recent run-ins with the Spanish side, according to reports from Le 10 Sport.

The Red Devils and Los Blancos crossed paths on numerous occasions through the summer transfer window, with the David de Gea and Sergio Ramos sagas the highlights.

‘Paperwork-gate’ curtailed the goalkeeper’s proposed move to Los Blancos – he’s since signed a new deal at Old Trafford – after the Spanish centre-back chose to extend his stay in Madrid despite links with Louis van Gaal’s side.

As a result of the aforementioned episodes, it’s been claimed that the clubs’ relationship has become strained, but reports suggest that United have not been deterred and are planning to move for Varane next summer.

The 22-year-old is considered to be one of the best young centre-backs in European football and is already a regular in the French national side despite his age.
