Man United plotting stunning Real Madrid swoop

Manchester United are ready to switch their transfer crosshairs from Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid team-mate Gareth Bale, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The Red Devils have been linked with a move to re-sign the Portuguese winger over the course of the past few weeks, but their hopes of luring him back to Old Trafford appear slim.

And after meetings were held last year regarding Bale, senior officials at the club are keen to focus back in on the Welshman.

When the 25-year-old swapped Spurs for Real in 2013, United were also in the running for the then Premier League star.

But the Southampton trainee’s desire to move to the Bernabeu rendered their pursuit fruitless.

Yet after one season in which he scored a vital goal in the Champions League Final, Bale’s role in the Los Blancos first-team is the subject of some doubt.

The flying winger has struggled to settle in the Real XI this term following the additions of Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez, and sources close to the club have suggested that manager Carlo Ancelotti is concerned.

This has alerted United, who are ready to swoop if there is any chance of landing Bale.
