Man United plotting to nab Dortmund ace this summer

Manchester United are plotting to land Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan this summer if he fails to agree a new contract before the end of the season, according to reports from The Metro.

The Germany international has endured an injury disturbed few years, but has returned to action this term and impressed, despite BVB’s woes.

And even though Dortmund have shocked Europe’s biggest sides by agreeing a fresh contract with Marco Reus, they may find it difficult to keep Gundogan, who has already rejected two offers from the club, beyond the end of 2014/15.

This has put United on red alert, with Louis van Gaal having already suggested that he’s keen on a creative central player.

Should talks fail, the 24-year-old could be the subject of bids from the Premier League giants, who may have to pay in excess of £20m for the playmaker, even though he will be a free agent in 2016.
