Manchester United will make a move for Spurs’ Hugo Lloris if they lose David de Gea to Real Madrid ahead of the looming transfer deadline, according to reports from L’Equipe.
The Red Devils are facing a mini goalkeeper crisis as things stand, with their Spanish No.1 in line to be dropped for the upcoming Premier League opener, coincidentally against Tottenham, as his transfer saga rumbles on, which could leave newbie Sergio Romero in line to start following Victor Valdes’ axing from first-team duties.
Real are reportedly looking to lure in De Gea in the coming days after chasing him for much of the summer, and should United lose their man, which is looking increasingly likely, L’Equipe (below) claim that Lloris is the main candidate to replace him.
It’s thought that the France international is eager to make the move to Old Trafford, where he would be able to play Champions League football and enjoy a more realistic shot at winning silverware after three barren years at White Hart Lane.
However, Tottenham big-shot Daniel Levy is likely to drive a hard bargain for the goalie, who is the Lilywhites’ captain and a key first-team player.
