Manchester United a preparing a surprise £30million swoop for Hoffenheim attacking midfielder Roberto Firmino, as reported by the Metro.
The Brazilian has been linked with Liverpool and Arsenal in recent weeks, but Metro believed Louis Van Gaal also has his eyes on bringing him to the Premier League.
Firmino has caught the eye of some of Europe’s top clubs with eight goals for Hoffenheim this term, and United scouts were reportedly at their 3-0 victory over Hamburg over the weekend.
The 23-year-old’s contract still has another two years to run but Metro believe he has been told he can leave the club if a mega-money offer comes in for him from a bigger club.
And United are weighing up a huge £30million bid to ensure they get their man this summer, as Van Gaal continues to rebuild a Red Devils side still seemingly trying to find its feet after Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.
